A Memorable 4th of July Celebration for Clients
Molly Tamkpe of Denton, Texas, spends her 4th of July
with the children of La Posada Providencia.
Cynthia Rives & Sister Margaret
Dale Tampke & Charles Rives
Two couples from Denton, Texas, gave the clients at La Posada Providencia a 4th of July celebration they will never forget!

Cynthia and Charles Rives as well as Molly and Dale Tampke first prepared a feast for the clients at La Posada and treated them to barbecue chicken and several side dishes. After dinner, the two couples orchestrated several fun games, such as the water balloon toss, for the children and parents to play. Then the Rives and Tampkes showed them how to use the leftover coals from the barbecue pit to melt marshmallows and make s’mores!
Cindy Johnson, a loyal friend of La Posada, also stopped by that evening and brought glow necklaces and fireworks for the clients. The 4th of July at La Posada ended with sparkles, “pops” and laughs thanks to the Rives, the Tampkes and Ms. Johnson.
The Rives and Tampkes both belong to First United Methodist Church of Denton. According to Cynthia Rives, the two couples made the eight-hour drive to La Posada in order to help with the recent immigration crisis at the South Texas border. These volunteers humbly volunteered over a period of three days and taught English classes, cooked meals and even mowed the grass!
The two couples also rallied at the Cameron County Courthouse in Brownsville, Texas, to stand up for the rights of immigrants and speak out against the separation of parents and children.
La Posada thanks Cynthia, Charles, Molly and Dale for the time they dedicated to La Posada and their work for social justice!
Sometimes Pictures Can Say More Than Words

La Posada volunteer Arcie Aguilar is a Wesley Nurse from the First United Methodist Church, in San Benito.  This past week, on July 5, she visited La Posada and offered
an activity to our clients called “Praying in Color.” As the pictures show, our clients thoroughly enjoyed the activity. Thank you, Arcie, for sharing your time and talents with us!
